Here's the frame shortening mash up on the 71 C10. I sketched out the 3 common splice styles based on strength , and as you see I did not do the splice as what I would have prefered to, the reason for this is that I didn't want to pull the cab off the frame nor did I want to deal with removing and reinstalling a cab mount. I opted for the diagonal splice, beveled the frame for the welds and added a fishplate on the inside of the C channel to ensure strength. The frame was shortened 12" to match
