KCRA 3 CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH Hired in 1970, Adrian Woodfork was KCRA 3’s first African American on air. He hosted and produced the “To Be Somebody” show, but faced several challenges behind the scenes. “In the beginning, it was bittersweet. Because being the first, I was met with some, some harassment, let’s say. There were people in charge who would call me, you know, names like buckee, buckwheat,” Woodfork said. But nothing stopped him. The show remained on air for nearly two decades.
